If you’re wondering what to expect, you’re not alone. Visiting a new church can feel a little awkward—even when you really want to be there. So here are a few things that might help.
Our Sunday worship is rooted in the Lutheran tradition, with Scripture, preaching, prayer, music, and Holy Communion. We use a printed worship guide, so you’ll be able to follow along. You don’t need to know anything ahead of time.
Worship lasts about an hour, and you’re welcome to participate as much or as little as feels comfortable.
Whatever makes you comfortable. You’ll find people dressed in everything from jeans to Sunday clothes. There’s no dress code here.
Children are welcome in worship. Really.
They may wiggle, make noise, ask questions, or need a little extra attention. That’s okay. We believe children are part of the worshiping community, not a distraction from it.

Someone will be available to help you find your way, but you don't have to worry about being singled out or put on the spot. Grab a worship guide, find a seat, and make yourself at home.
No. Communion is an invitation, not a test.
[Insert First Immanuel's actual communion practice/invitation here.]
If you’re not receiving Communion, you’re welcome to remain in your seat or come forward for a blessing.
Stick around! We often gather for coffee and conversation after worship. It’s a relaxed way to meet people and get a feel for the community.
Or, if you’d rather slip out quietly after worship, that’s okay too.
We are people at many different places in life and faith. Some have been part of First Immanuel for generations. Others are new. Some grew up in church; others are finding their way back—or figuring out what they believe for the first time.
You don't have to have it all figured out to belong here.
You don't need to know the right words, wear the right clothes, or know the right people.
Just come. We'd be glad to welcome you.
